A great friend and kindred spirit left the big corporate auto repair dealership to a family owned auto repair center which caters to the upscale market. I made some branded air fresheners to distribute to their customers and with 2 hours a customer was so appreciative as she had rodents eat the wiring harness of their vehicles costing over $3,000. Wires in all cars and even EV’s are coated with rubber that is made of SOY and rodents love to eat them. My friend gave her 4 fresheners for all of their vehicles and made a customer for life. Welcome back to another episode of Ignite Success, where we highlight leaders who are making an impact. I’m Morgan Young, and I’m joined today by Wayne Mary with Rodents and Insects Be Gone. And we have a little friend here, huh?
Wayne:
Yes, we do.
Morgan:
Wayne, thank you for being here.
Wayne:

Morgan:
So, we have a really cool product here.
Wayne:

Morgan:
You literally make rodents and insects disappear—scurrying away without harming them. It’s really incredible what you’ve created. Give me a rundown of what you do and how you got into it.
Wayne:
Someone came to me knowing I’m an entrepreneur and said, “Maybe you can help solve a problem.” They had an RV lot being infested by rodents that were eating the wiring. Years ago, wiring was coated with plastic tubing, but it became expensive, so manufacturers switched to a soy- and rice-based rubber compound. Mice love soy.
Morgan:
I had no idea! And you were granted a U.S. patent for your solution, right?
Wayne:
Yes. I’ve generated patents before, so I knew how to structure it to protect myself. I wanted something all natural—safe for our pets and families. Most insect killers are toxic, and kids and pets are exposed to them inside the home. I began testing at the RV center and proved the product worked.
During research, I found there was 17 billion dollars’ worth of damage in 2024 to people’s personal property—homes, cars, boats, and more.
Morgan:
Wow. There’s definitely a market.
Wayne:
Absolutely. Florida is the second most rodent-infested state in America—Texas is number one. And Jacksonville is the fourth most affected area. Development and construction disturb the natural habitats of rodents and bugs, so they start seeking shelter, food, and warmth.
We call it the three D’s:
• Disease — They carry it.
• Damage — They destroy property.
• Death — They can cause it.
Gene Hackman’s wife actually died from Hantavirus caused by rodents under their house.
Morgan:
That’s wild. And your product is small, easy, and smells nice—no chemical odor.
Wayne:
Exactly. And it repels a long list of pests.
Morgan:
Let’s hear it.
Wayne:
All of these are listed in the patent: rodents, mice, rats, squirrels, snakes, felines, termites, deer, armadillos, skunks, moles, scorpions, mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, roaches, maggots, flies, lice, gnats, silverfish, bees, hornets, wasps, beetles, stink bugs, bed bugs, slugs, centipedes, cicadas, spiders, ants, and more.
Morgan:
Wow! And how much area does one of these cover?
Wayne:
One can handle a whole room. Sealed in the wrapper, they last up to a year. Opened, humans can smell them for about 90 days, but insects and rodents have at least three times our smelling capability—so even when you don’t smell it, they still do.
Morgan:
Amazing. And you can even leave them sealed and still get some effectiveness?
Wayne:
Yes. They still work.
Morgan:

Wayne:
My online store: Rodents To Insects Be Gone. It’s long—I know! We’re also testing with Ace Hardware, especially their Blanding Road and 103rd Street locations. JEA saw them and wants them for their trucks. Camping World also tested them.
Morgan:
That’s incredible. Do you have a favorite success story?
Wayne:
The possum story. A family had possums under their crawl space. They tried traps and poison—nothing worked. I told them where to place the product so the animals would have a path to leave. The homeowner looked out the window, and the entire possum family was walking away.
That’s my favorite—no harm done.
Morgan:
I love that. And it repels mosquitoes too?
Wayne:
Yes. Mosquitoes carry malaria—2.6 million cases a year, with over 600,000 deaths globally. We’re hoping to help reduce that.
And for pet owners—mosquitoes carry heartworm. It’s painful and dangerous for pets.
Morgan:
That’s huge. And you mentioned a daycare story?
Wayne:
A local daycare had rodents chew wires and cause a fire. Another daycare had their bus wiring destroyed. This product helps prevent those situations.
Morgan:
Well, thank you for the amazing work you’re doing. I get bitten by mosquitoes all the time—even in winter—so I’m keeping these everywhere.
Wayne:
It repels everything but lawyers and ex-wives. I’m still working on that formula!
