Short company description:
Parenting R.O.I. is a national movement equipping families with practical tools, strategic guidance, and faith-based support to raise confident, resilient kids in today’s unpredictable world. Founded by Glenn Ellison, a leader with 25 years in ministry and family outreach, Parenting R.O.I. blends scripture, data, and real-life modeling to help parents make intentional investments that produce long-term returns in their children’s character, behavior, and identity. Through books, podcasts, workshops, and digital storytelling, Parenting R.O.I. empowers families to lead with clarity, consistency, and hope — no matter the challenges they face.
What is your “why”? What drives you to do what you do every day?
I wake up every day at 4:00 AM because clarity, consistency, and Kingdom focus don’t happen by accident — they’re built in the quiet hours before the world starts shouting. That time anchors me in scripture, prayer, and purpose so I can lead my family, my ministry, and my message with strength and peace.
Who in your industry do you see as a trend setter and why?
Bud Fry and Dr. Roger Morgan They started parent project over 30 years ago with nothing but a desire to empower parents.
What inspires you to keep growing and learning as a leader?
Nothing motivates me more deeply than witnessing a parent finally exhale in peace inside their own home because the child they almost lost is now safe, thriving, and back in their arms—and knowing that better leadership at every level can help create more of those moments for more families.
What impact do you hope to leave on your organization or industry?
I hope to leave an impact where the work we began over two decades ago—helping families find safety, peace, and healing—becomes so deeply embedded in our organization and industry that it outlives me and continues thriving beyond, because the need remains heartbreakingly great.

Morgan:
Welcome back to another episode of Finding Your Frequency, where we highlight those who are making an impact and helping others find their frequency. I’m Morgan Allen, joined today by Glenn Ellison with the Parent Help Center. Glenn, thank you for being here.
Glenn:
Thank you, Morgan.
Morgan:
So tell me about the Parent Help Center. You’ve been through a lot to help these adolescents get their lives together and back on track. Tell me more.
Glenn:
Parents need a lot of help. Today’s parents are in bad shape. They’re so. They’re torn in so many ways. And when a kid prevails against all authority, the first thing that they lose is respect. And when there’s no respect at home, there’s no place for that relationship to go down. So when this kid came to me and it didn’t take me long to figure out that we don’t have a child problem, we got a mama and a daddy problem. There’s a lot of parents who don’t want to hear that. They don’t want to take ownership of the kid they messed up. And I can say that because I did the same thing. I was a messed up daddy.
Morgan:
Oh, really?
Glenn:
I chased a dollar. That was more important than my family. Yeah. And it cost me everything I had.
Morgan:
When did you realize that?
Glenn:
Well, 25 years ago. I have a friend whose son wound up standing before a judge who was about to be sentenced for one year. The dad convinced the judge to allow him to pay for a faith based program, which separated this kid from the world. And in that environment. And I went out there to encourage him. And I have known him since he was a little boy. And, I fell in love with watching these main kids turn into kids again. They didn’t have to compete with anybody. They just learned how to make good choices, how to work hard, and how to respect their parents and authority. And then the man who had this program, he looked at me and he said, and I started volunteering almost every weekend. And he said, Glenn, I can fix the kids. I’ve been fixing them for 30 years. I need a camp for parents.
Glenn:
Well, I put together a program. I took it back to him, and I said, what do you think of this? And he said, man, I like it. Who’s going to do it? I said, well, you. I’ve got a good job. I’ll make a living. He said, no, I work with children. I put that thing on the back of my credenza at work. He stayed there for two years. I ain’t doing that. No, I don’t want to do that. And I couldn’t figure out how to make any money doing that. And I still have it. But. I believe and have believed for a long time. As the home goes, so goes America.
Morgan:
Yeah.
Glenn:
Can I ask you a question, Morgan, please? How good’s America going right now?
It is a mess. It’s a mess. And yet, in 1899, the juvenile justice program’s first program was established in Cook County, Illinois. That’s a long time ago. Why haven’t they fixed this problem? Yeah. They’re still building jails and it won’t ever stop because it’s a moneymaker.
Glenn:
Oh yeah. Yeah. So. I realized very quickly that if we have parents who know how to raise a child, let me back up. I’ve been working for 20 years with adolescents. The Bible says to train up a child. I knew I was in the center of God’s will. I knew that for 20 years. But the parents weren’t coming to me anymore. I had to go where they were. Well, where are they? Online social media, podcasts, YouTube channels. That’s where I am now.
Morgan:
Wow. That’s it. Yeah. And now I can reach millions of people.
Glenn:
Yes. That’s amazing. And that’s why I’m here this morning. I love it.
Morgan:
What do you think is the biggest catalyst for the parents to make a change in their lives? That trickles to the children.
Glenn:
Sadly. They have to hit rock bottom. They have to be so desperate to do anything to put peace back in their home. I had a man come to me years ago. He had 1800 1900 employees, lived on the river.
Glenn:
He would sit in his driveway and listen to the war going on in the home with his son and his wife screaming and yelling, and he’d work 60, 70 hours a week to keep from going to the house. And so they came to us. They contacted me and they said, if this doesn’t work, we’re getting a divorce.
Morgan:
Wow.
Glenn:
Back then, we were doing conferences. She drove up in her Cadillac. He grew up in his nice pickup. She said on this end of the bench, we were at a church and he said, on this and on the bench? Yeah. On Sunday morning, they were right here.
Morgan:
Wow.
Glenn:
And that boy turned it around because his mom and dad, he changed their parenting. Our motto for 20 years has been changed. Parents will see change. Kids. Well, I don’t need a change. He does know he’s the way he is. Because you’re the way you are. Yes. And when I fix you, that kid will follow you. Yeah. He will look up to you, and he will respect you. But you got to earn that respect. You can’t demand it.
Glenn:
And so we have been working as hard as we can. Screaming at the top of my lungs. Warning! These kids aren’t cute. At three and four and five. When they stomp their feet and yell and know, you got a strong willed kid, and you better parent that child differently than you do a compliant kid. Yes. So I know for a fact that we’re right where God wants us. I know nothing about technology. But I said God 25 years ago. I can’t do this. I don’t know anything about this. He said it perfectly. Just do what I tell you.
Morgan:
Wow.
Glenn:
And that’s what I’ve been doing for 25 years in the real miracle, Morgan, is my wife lets me. Oh, yeah. She is an amazing lady that puts up with me and all the mess I put her through. And, she keeps praying that I’ll find the joy, peace and happiness that I’ve always wanted. I thought money would do it. It did. I’ll tell you one more story, because I know I don’t have the rest of the day.
Glenn:
But I had one dream in life, and that was to play football. In the NFL. And I got kicked out of college. Oh man. I had a full scholarship. That was the only plan I had. There was no plan B. I came back to Jacksonville just as broke as I left Jacksonville because I grew up very poor. And I knew that if all it took to be successful in life was hard work, I would be successful. I played two years of semi-pro football. Hoping somebody would see me and give me a chance. That happened for Johnny Unitas. That way. One of the great quarterbacks didn’t happen for me.
Glenn:
My two brothers both won in Vietnam. One of them wrote home. He said, Glenn, I heard the Marine Corps has a football team. I knew they played intramural. So I go to him, a recruiter. I said, y’all have a football team? He said, absolutely. I said, can I play for him? He said, sure, sign here.
Glenn:
I’ll learn something about recruitment. They all, the headquarters. And this was Vietnam going on? Yes. And if he didn’t meet his quotas, he’s back. And, Wow. I signed up to play football. I got the parasite in South Carolina. We did not play football. Right. Got to camp. I was in North Carolina. We did not play football. I got to 29 palms California. We did not play football. I’m looking for my next duty station. It was Vietnam. I said I know they ain’t playing football over there. I wonder if that sucker lied to me.
Glenn:
I came home on a 20 day leave, headed for Nam. Oh, I’ve got the heart of mortality right in combat. I’m a communications man standing right next to my officer. If they can take out your leadership and your communication, who calls in the air support? The enemy thinks they can win. I’m thinking I’m not coming back home. I’m a dead man getting ready to go to Vietnam.
Glenn:
A miracle happened because I’m an E-2, which was a little bit higher than an A1. Yeah. And nobody in the Marine Corps. Your orders never get changed. Corporal Ellison, your orders have been careful. You report to Quantico, Virginia, to try out for the United States Marine Corps football team. Oh, praise. I got there, and I’m looking around. I went. What is this? Quantico is the Marine Corps officer’s candidate program. I’m an enlisted man. I don’t belong there, but I’m the most valuable player two years in a row.
Morgan:
Oh my goodness.
Glenn:
Wow. I would have stayed in the Corps had I not gotten that call. Yeah. Mr. Ellison, we’ve been watching you play. It was. They played a small college schedule, not military people. They figured out the Marine Corps had a lot of good officers playing football for a lot of good football players that wouldn’t make it in the NFL would make great marine officers. So it was a recruiting function that I played football for a while. That’s why I got the call. We watched you play. Would you like to try out for our team? I said, yes, sir, I would.
Glenn:
Oh my goodness. What it didn’t tell me was the odds of a walk on a free agent. Making it is 10,000 to 1.
Morgan:
Oh my gosh.
Glenn:
Wow. I’m the one. That’s incredible. That’s God, that is God, and that is God. 100% sure. There’s many stats that have brought you from there to where you are today. I wish we were all tough enough to take on what I’ve been doing for 20. For real. You can take the tackles by all these young children. Most would have quit a long time ago. But it was my calling. Yeah, it was my identity. Most of my life, my journey with sports, athletics.
Glenn:
Today I’m a restorer of peace. That’s what I do. I help parents put peace back in their life and I get calls all the time. Thank you Mr. Glam. I got 24 and 25 year old kids coming back saying thank you. Wow what you did for my family. And that’s why you meet with the Prince of Peace every morning at 4 a.m., you sit down, you open your Bible, and you make that time for the Lord so that you can bring that peace to other people’s lives.
Morgan:
Absolutely. It’s a beautiful thing. Glenn. Thank you for being on the show today. I enjoyed being here. Thank you. Thank you.
Morgan:
