“On A Mission” showcases leaders who are going the extra mile each and every day. Each of the people we interview is on a mission to serve, inspire and educate. Our hosts highlight their impact and explore what motivates, engages and fulfills individuals and teams to be more productive, more effective, better at what they do, and happier to do it. Today our hosts, Della Sellers and James Fenimore, spoke with Rita Richa of Reignite Media.

Short company description:
Reignite Media is a boutique story-driven sales firm helping Fortune 500 and tech brands turn conversations into sales.
What is the most important lesson you’ve learned over your career?
Productivity is not the answer to self-worth. Your inner self is a reflection of what happens in your life, business, and environment. It’s important to take care of your mental, spiritual, and physical health, FIRST or everything else will fall apart.
What nonprofit do you have a heart for and how do you support it?
St. Jude Children’s hospital and Wolfson’s children hospital. Any time I hear they are doing a promo during a purchase I donate. Kids are always dear to my heart.
What’s your favorite way to get involved in the community?
Jacksonville Podcasters United club is one of my favorite community groups as we all come together to learn and support our dreams and journeys.
If you could be remembered for one thing, what would it be?
I want to be there for my friends family and colleagues not just during the good times, but the bad times too. I hope people remember how much I cared for them.

Della:
Welcome to On A Mission. I’m Della Sellars with Girls of Virtue and Virtue Consulting. I’m really excited about our conversation today. And I want to make sure that you guys first get an awareness of who is with us today. So to my right, can you tell everybody who you are?
James:
I’m James Fenimore. I’m one of the hosts here. I host Living My Faith on Faithworks TV. And I’m just really excited to be here because I love talking to you, della. And we’ve got a great guest today.
Della:
And I agree, we’ve had some great conversations so far and the few sessions we have done so far. And then as I butcher this along the way, I’m not the best at this. So thank you all, both for bearing with me. Now our guest today, her introduction of hey, she has just made me smile. So can you tell everybody how to say your name and what you do here in Jacksonville?
Rita:
So my name is Rita Richa. I always like to add the jazz hands at the end like we should at the end. So my name is Rita. I’m the founder and chief storytelling officer of Reignite Media. Reignite media is a podcast consulting and production firm. We help small businesses locally as well as international enterprise fortune 500 businesses, launch podcasts that help tell their story and bring their brand to life.
We do it in a couple of ways through pop up podcasts, immersive experiences like, an event like conferences and stuff like that. Full production with my team. And then locally, I help with teaching, consulting and coaching to empower local business owners who want to teach themselves how to edit or train their team in-house, how to do it, basically bring their story to life.
And the business is called Reignite Media because it was born from a time where I actually was working for a company and things didn’t work out. And I got laid off, and it was kind of hard to figure out, well, this is what I want to do with my life. I was working in the podcasting industry.
So if I’m not doing this, like, what am I supposed to be doing? But along the way, actually, I started a podcast for fun while I was working at that company. It’s called Bibbidi Bobbidi Business. It’s a Disney business inspired podcast where we talk about the magic behind the scenes. And I’m just a former theater kid and, you know, Floridian who grew up going to the parks with my family.
And, we would just learn about, like, and interview people about, especially like former cast members like.
Della:
That customer.
Rita:
Experience and immersive experiences and all the like. You know what I like to call the magic, the business behind it all so that I could learn, but also business leaders can learn. And again, I was doing it purely for fun. But I was posting on LinkedIn a lot and sharing, like, my podcast and my experiences that I got to have along the way as a result of it.
And I decided, well, I didn’t decide. I feel like God decided for me that I had to start my own business, because I always grew up saying I never wanted to be an entrepreneur. But when I started the show and posted it on LinkedIn, I got a lot of people saying, hey, actually, can you help me?
Like, I want to learn how to do this, or we want to do it for our business. And, within a few weeks of me googling how to start LLC or how to find a job after a layoff, I had a business that I was running, and I’ve been very blessed ever since to continue my my my, continue my passion and reignite the spark that I had and in a different way.
So that’s why it’s called Reignite Media. And alternatively as well, I really like to help business leaders who have issues with their confidence or, unsure on lack of clarity on how to convey their message, how to find their own spark again and tell their story from a place of authenticity and hopefully impact too.
James:
Oh that’s wonderful. My first question was when a business comes to you about the podcasting stuff and they do it for their social media or they want to create a genuine new podcast around their business.
Rita:
So, both. But my favorite is when we’re really trying to craft a show for those business leaders that really want it to be, that pillar piece of content, what I like to call for their brand. And we’ve done everything from serious shows to funny business game shows. Those are my favorite.
I love a game show moment, to, you know, more narrative type, investigative type podcasting. There’s a few attorneys or mediators that I worked with, and really, it’s just the love of the craft of storytelling, like growing up watching Disney. Like those are the movies. For me personally, as a kid in my era, that stuck with me, and I just really wanted to understand what was it about that emotion and that, you know, narrative, those characters and music.
What was it about that that made me remember something that I watched 15 years ago, still today. And if a little bit of that magic could be placed in business, wouldn’t that be so cool? Right? So yeah, that’s kind of the story of and a little bit of the behind the scenes of that.
James:
Would you do a game show for investigative podcast? What would you do?
Della:
So I have very mixed feelings about that topic. Yeah. I love the word you say. Story. For many years I, the Lord continued to stir my heart. The words tell your story. And I remember struggling. I don’t know what that means. What do you want to do with that? And then now, years later, of doing some ministry work, I see the storyline and it all points back to God.
God did it. I didn’t do it. And it’s everything for my company. The way you said it was, the way it grew into that, the way it grew into a ministry that helped kids. And I, as you were talking, I’m like, I’d put her in front of our kids. Like, very much so. But these kinds of things make me really nervous.
I’ve tried to talk to the marketing team for a very long time to let me hide behind the camera and put the puppy in the front. I’ll talk.
James:
I try to.
Della:
Oh, when I’m good, I don’t need it. Well, that’s why.
Rita:
Podcasting for me was a good stop, because before video, like it was truly just. I started in the pure art audio form of podcasting because I, like you, was not necessarily nervous to talk to people, but worried how I’d be perceived online, especially as a woman in business. There’s a lot of pressure around being and looking and acting a certain way.
And, that’s why I think podcasting as an audio form is still beautiful and valid. Because if your voice matters at the end of the day, and only you can tell your story and share your message, and if it takes stripping everything back down and just telling a story through audio, like, you know, we do video as well, but there’s there’s beauty in that.
And that’s how, you know, I actually was thinking about this. I was like, what about storytelling makes it so unique? Well, it’s easy to understand and it’s memorable. And you think about Jesus. Actually, I think Jesus was one of the best marketers there were out there. He told a lot of stories, and to help people understand something bigger and more powerful than themselves.
And through parables and through bringing people together, you know, that’s that art of storytelling has been here, a tale as old as time, right? So that’s what I would tell somebody who’s struggling is, somebody else needs to hear your message. It’s not about you. It’s about the listener. And if you’re afraid to show up and look a certain way, you know, news four Jax already.
Like, turn it off, turn the camera off, turn on the microphone and speak from the heart.
Della:
Well, we could take that to a whole lot of levels. Yeah. The power of our testimony is. It’s powerful. Yeah. The purpose behind everything that we all go through as individuals. The thing that grows us into the people I think we’re created to be in the first place ends up being. That’s the story. It’s our testimony.
And what God, the ultimate story, kind of shows through all of that. So that was so awesome to the way you put that, because I’ve that’s such a you the way you worded it is beautiful like the context of what that would be to kind of help people and build that story is really what it’s all about.
And coming together. So we’ll all get together because I very much would love to get you in front of some young women in this city. Yes. We work with about 500 youth in the city, so we’ll be grabbing each other offline. But I think they’re going to kick us off the show in a minute. Okay. Is there anything else about your company that we want to make sure that the people that are watching or anybody else can, if they wanted to get connected to know about getting with you, where would they go?
Rita:
So first, quickly want to shout out a local, nonprofit that I’m a part of? It’s called Jacksonville Business Calendar, and we’re all about visibility and helping business leaders know about events going on, but also amplifying and promoting them. So focused on, you know, it’s a tool. You can go to Jax Business calendar.com if you have an event as a business owner that you want people to attend free of charge, submit your event and it’ll go in the database.
But if you’re also looking to make an impact or, you know, find your voice and branch out, especially if you’re a woman in business too. Great place to go for me. I’m always on LinkedIn. I’m a LinkedIn girl. So Rita Risha on LinkedIn. But if you happen to be a Disney fan chick, check out Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo.
Della:
Business, the podcast.
James:
Thank you so much. It’s been awesome.
Della:
